TWCB Episode 6: Single Panel Comics
![]()
Single Panel Comics… if you call them “comics”, is this week’s topic. Chris Hallbeck of The Book of Biff is also with us tonite. Casual Ramblings from Brett Hainley brings us another great segment, and Diana Nock returns with a Webcomic Review of Multiplex.
We… meaning Fes, has been having some troubles this week. Hopefully He’ll work out the problems with the site and other things by next show…. and hopefully this show works to download for everyone this time. Still trying to figure that one out. I have heard using BitComet has been very successful in snagging the whole show. We’ve also change some settings which I hope now allow the show to download properly.
Please “CALL-IN” or e-mail a message to us with a question or comment about this week’s topic, or next week’s topic!
For next week, we will be having a bit of an open forum, as well as talking about potential nominations for the Web Cartoonists’ Choice Awards. So please send in some questions and comments!

Great episode, guys. You both are sounding more natural and confident. I thought the topic of single-panel comics would wear itself out after a couple of minutes, but you had some very good insights. The interview with Chris Hallbeck was good, too.
I vote for keeping Diana as a regular contributing reviewer! She’s good at getting across what she thinks makes a comic work, and has a great podcast voice.
I’m looking forward to when you tackle the concept of all-ages comics

Thanks! I hope people are downloading this OK. I turned off stat tracking and changed the URL of the files, so hopefully its going through for everyone now.

Thanks for fixing the download issues!
This was a great episode. I have almost zero interest in single-panel comics, and yet I listened to the whole thing and really enjoyed it. You guys have a great voice and the show keeps getting better. Keep it up!

Savage Chickens is a good comic that is usually one panel. http://www.savagechickens.com/index.html
Indexed is a one panel comic that uses graphs. It is enjoyed by the creator of XKCD. http://indexed.blogspot.com/
I really enjoyed the interview.

I switched from multi-panel to single-panel comics, and my site is much more popular now. This may be attributed to a slight increase in drawing ability, one any other reason, but I think it’s better for attracting short term visitors. On the other hand, toothpastefordinner is one of the most popular comics around.
I think each format has its own unique challenges, so it’s unfair to say it’s lazy or stupid.

It’s about time the oppressed minority of webcomics had our say! Fuck the man!
