TWCB - Episode 1: So you want to make a webcomic?
Welcome to the first episode of The Webcomic Beacon! Clocking in at about 60 minutes we have crammed in a lot of content! Our topic for this week revolves around suggestions and advice for newbie webcomickers. Along with our discussion, Brett Hainley gives us some Casual Ramblings on the subject. We also have an interview with Jonathon Dalton, and we give webcomic reviews to Abstract Gender and Planet Saturday.
Also, here is a link to The Webcomic List Forum post I mention in the show.
Check out our site as well! Particularly the “Get Involved!” section, and the “All About Us” section.

Oh man, I had to find out about this early in the morning at work… now I have to wait all day before I can download and listen to it!
I’m psyched about this since I’ve just recently gotten into listening to Halfpixel’s Webcomics Weekly podcast! Good luck to everyone involved!

Yeah, this is a pretty good show so far. I haven’t listened to Webcomics Weekly, but it’s similar to Webcomics Confidential by the same crowd. But that’s good.

Welcome to the club. It’s nice to have a few more webcomic podcasts around.

Thanks!
Though, I have to admit I have never listened to webcomic netcasts in the past. I only listen to two gaming/nerd podcasts right now, and actually I JUST found the Gigcast :P. So it looks like I have some more to look into now

Just finished listening to it - great job! I’ll definitely be tuning in for each one, and I’ll give you guys a plug in my update for tomorrow.
…can you still use the term “tuning in” for something like netcasts?

yes, maybe more as a metaphor, but yea

This is a great netcast (and not just because you reviewed our comic)! You’ve shared lots of good info here and I’ll definitely be listening to future episodes. (And thanks for the great review)!

A very nice podcast, a bit long, but whatcha gonna do? I see good things coming from you guys as you get your formula worked out.

I can’t download this. It stops at 50%. I’ve tried several methods, none have worked.
December 9th, 2007 at 8:31 am
hmmm, you are the 2nd person to say that. I had even given the other person an alternate link, and it still did not download the whole way.
I don’t know what to say… what browser are you using? Operating system? Internet connection? What about playing the show in the pop-up player or listening via the RSS?
Not sure what to tell you :/

I get the feeling it’s taking so long to download that it times out on me before it can properly finish.
December 10th, 2007 at 9:10 am
Alright, after trying firefox, IE, and a feed aggrevator, I eventually got it all with opera. I used the stop and resume periodically so it wouldn’t time out on me.

Just listened to the first show and really enjoyed the heck out of it. iTunes feed, please!
The reviews were great. I especially like that you did a positive and negative review. Nice balance. I found you both to be pretty fair and honest. Looking forward to listening to more.

An iTunes feed has been submitted. Tanya is going to look over the link, but this might be it:

I say “MIGHT” because I have resisted downloading iTunes to my computer… which is a different topic… anyway, I apparently need iTunes to check the link even… so if that is the link… well… there you go.

We couldn’t get it to download completely through the popup player, but the ‘audio mp3′ link worked for us.

This is great. I’m doing a PhD dissertation on webcomics, and this episode was really enlightening.
I could only listen to it through the popup player, though.
Congratulations!

The ITunes feed Fes listed above is, in fact, correct - Subscribe away!

Does this pod cast seem to just cut off for anyone else? I was listening to it in pop up and they were giving the tip “don’t just post ‘CHECK MY WEBSITE’” when suddenly it just stopped. Was that the end of the podcast or did it cut out on me?

I’ll check with my host for possible reasons for this happening. I think you may be the 4th person (out of over 200) that have said this.
The next show will be around 30-40 minutes so maybe that one will work better.
